Marching Band:

A semester course only offered in the fall for students who play a wind instrument. Students will continue to learn and enhance music fundamentals and technique learned during previous instructions. Students will also explore multiple approaches to develop and refine aspects of music performance and general effect as it pertains to the Marching Band show design.

Color Guard Techniques: 

This first and second semester course is designed to introduce and develop a student’s knowledge and skill in fundamental and advanced dance and auxiliary equipment techniques and performance. The Color Guard is a vital part of the Marching Band and follows the same schedule as the Douglas County Marching Band (schedule on calendar tab). All Guard members are required to participate during scheduled rehearsals and performances beyond the normal school day.

Spirit Wear & Uniforms

Spirit Wear and MTX 

This year we're ordering spirit wear from Denver Athletic. The link to order is coming soon. 

Every student should have a purple spirit wear shirt and black athletic shorts for wearing under uniforms and for parades.  

Band Boosters will provide 1 t-shirt per student.

*It can be helpful for students to have more than one shirt when the season is busy, and they have multiple events in a week.

MTX shoes will be fitted and ordered during band camp this year. The cost is generally $60 plus shipping, but is subject to change at time of order. 

• Each student is fitted with a jacket, bibbers, gauntlets and shaiko. 

• Uniforms must be kept in the uniform room. 

• They are not allowed to go home with the kids.

• MTX Shoes are also required to be kept in the uniform bags.

Required for Every Performance - 

Marchers:

• Current year’s Band T-Shirt (Provided by Boosters) - Extras recommended. 

• Band Shorts ($25.00) - [Past Marchers can use last year's if they fit.]

• Long Black Socks (not dress socks) - [Purchase on own. Also available on MTX website or local retailers like Walmart.]

• Black MTX Shoes ($60 plus $9 bulk shipping) 

• Black Gloves – woodwinds and brass get 1 pair issued. If lost or replaced it is ($5/pair)

• Capezio Shoes (see Guard instructor for specific information)
