Marching Band
Marching Band:
A semester course only offered in the fall for students who play a wind instrument. Students will continue to learn and enhance music fundamentals and technique learned during previous instructions. Students will also explore multiple approaches to develop and refine aspects of music performance and general effect as it pertains to the Marching Band show design.
Color Guard Techniques:
This first and second semester course is designed to introduce and develop a student’s knowledge and skill in fundamental and advanced dance and auxiliary equipment techniques and performance. The Color Guard is a vital part of the Marching Band and follows the same schedule as the Douglas County Marching Band (schedule on calendar tab). All Guard members are required to participate during scheduled rehearsals and performances beyond the normal school day.
During the competitive season, the marching band competes through the Colorado Bandmasters Association (CBA) as well as Ascend Performing Arts.
CBA holds Colorado Regionals & State Championships, Ascend Performing Arts hosts the Friendship Cups.

Spirit Wear and MTX
This year we have an order form for Huskie Pride spirit wear and payment will be made via MySchoolBucks when school starts. Here is the link.
Every student should have a t-shirt, shorts, and a ball cap for wearing under uniforms and for parades.
Band Boosters will also provide 1 t-shirt per student.
*It can be helpful for students to have more than one shirt when the season is busy, and they have multiple events in a week.
Shoe orders are due before band camp this year. Please order online before July 5, 2023 or there will be additional fees for late shipping. Band students can buy a used pair of MTX shoes for $5 or a limited number of new pairs for $30, please dont rely on this as stock is low for these. If your student will need to order a pair of MTXs, they will cost $40 plus $9 for shipping, payable via this MTX ORDER SITE.
Guard member uniforms and shoes will be handled separately.
All Prices are ball-park and subject to change.
Each kid is fitted with a jacket, bibbers, gauntlets and shako.
Uniforms must be kept in the uniform room.
They are not allowed to go home with the kids.
MTX Shoes are also required to be kept in the uniform bags.
