*She was born in Victoria in 1900 and died in 1989.
*Sr Leonie was a Sister of St Joseph and trained to be a teacher.
*For 25 years Sr Leonie Ryan was in charge of training other sisters to become teachers.
*She opened the St Joseph's Training School (Catholic Teachers' College).
*Sr Leonie was the one who advocated and introduced lay (a person who is not part of the clergy) Catholic teachers into Australian Catholic schools.
*She was also worried about the education of children in government schools in rural areas and began the 'motor mission'. This is where two sisters would travel to different areas to deliver scripture lessons for children in public schools.

The home of YMCC, the space is warm and welcoming to all who visit. The Ryan Centre is used on a daily basis for a plethora of reasons. YMCC and Mini Vinnies students gather here for lunch meetings, it is used for youth ministry based activities and is even used for examinations. Teachers have booked the Ryan Centre to bring their classes for lessons or meditation and the RE faculty use the space for staff meetings. The Ryan Centre is a place of respite from the playground, and a safe space when some 'time out' is needed.
Staff and students are welcome to book the Ryan Centre and will need to complete a booking request form (link below).
