Lecture by Dr. Mrinalini Jha Date:7th February,2022 ECOZEST under aegis of IQAC, Deshbandhu College, organised a special Online Lecture on 'Who was impacted and how? Two years of Covid-19 pandemic in India.' Lecture was delivered by esteemed professor of Azim Premji University, Dr. Mrinalini Jha Ma'am. She gave a beautiful description of how Covid has impacted each and every section of Society.

Econfiesta'22 Date:26 & 27 February ,2022 Ecozest organized its annual 2 day fest on 26th and 27th February 2022. Starting with the inaugural ceremony, this extravaganza included events viz; War of Black and White, Unspoken Logophile, Cine Mania and Silly Point 2.0.These events attracted crowd of various DU and Non-DU colleges.

Farewell of Batch 2019-22 Date:9th April ,2022 Ecozest organized official farewell on 9th April, 2022. Freshers and Sophomores bade farewell to their seniors. The event was indeed a memorable one for the seniors!

The Department Trip Date:11-13th March,2022 Ecozest organized a trip to Jaipur on 11th March 2021. Sophomores and Seniors visited various historical places in Jaipur like The City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Amer Fort, Jal Mahal and Nahargarh fort. Students were ecstatic and learnt alot about the ancient Indian traditions and culture.

‘Lecture by Dr. Awadesh Kumar' Date: 21st May, 2022 Department of Economicsunder aegis of IQAC, Deshbandhu College, organized a Special Online lecture on 21st May, 2022. The Topic of the lecture is "Economics of Remittance during COVID19". Our former faculty member Dr. Awadhesh Kumar has given the lecture. The session was really informative and given the detail explanation about how Covid-19 affects the migrated workers, remittances, employment opportunities and structure of rural and urban economy with special focus on informal sector workers.
Workshop on Python and Data Analysis Date: 14-15th July, 22 The Department of Economics, Deshbandhu College organized a two days workshop for 3 hours each day from 10 am- 1 pm on 14 and 15 July 2022. The objective of the workshop is to introduce first year Economics (hons.) students to the basics of programming in Python while also spending time on doing meaningful data analysis using economic data from sources such as World Bank. The lectures has been taken by Nikita Singh, Assistant Professor in Economics (ad-hoc), Deshbandhu College.

‘Risky Business in a Risky World’ Workshop by Institute of Risk Management (HQ: UK), India Affiliate:
Given the risky world that we live in today, it is important to understand why risk assessment for every organisation is essential. Risk exists in all projects and to be able to identify trouble spots at an early age can be a foundation to a successful operation.
Our student Unnati Agarwal (Batch of 2021) is a Student Risk Committee Member at Institute of Risk Management, India Affiliate. IRM is the world’s leading body for Enterprise Risk Management Qualifications run by professional members. With its spread across 143 countries, IRM consists of members from varied backgrounds with their understanding in the growing relevance of risk management.
An online workshop by the Institute of Risk Management, India Affiliate was conducted for the department on 26th August 2020. The students learned about the importance of risk management with complex problem solving, effective decision making and critical thinking skills needed to succeed in a risky world. Our guest speaker was the IRM India CEO – Mr. Hersh Shah – CA, IIMB Alumnus, Technical Specialist elected by IRM UK and decade of experience in the industry.

Multi-tracking Career Pathways webinar by Zalphius:
Ecozest along with Enactus Deshbandhu conducted a live webinar in collaboration with ZALPHIUS – an organisation with a great initiative to help students and people realise their worth and help them to march forward in their career. The webinar was solely based on ‘multi-tracking career paths’. The workshop took place on 20th September 2020. Our guest speaker was Zalphuis Founder & CEO - Mr. Sunish Bansal.

The Annual Fest: One of the majestic events organized by Ecozest with enormous participation on 19th February, 2021. It was a mix of 5 events from quiz to paper presentation to bidding. Exciting rewards for the acers were planned too which lured the audience to exhibit a humongous participation.
Budget 2021 and Prospect of Indian Economy: With the release of Union Budget and chaos around its interpretation; the Economic Society came up with an exciting session honoured by Prof. Ram Singh's presence on 17th February, 2021. The guest speaker shared his insights on the budget and the prospects for Indian Economy with the budget laid down. The most appealing fact about the session was the interaction level between the speaker and the audience pondering on roundabouts of the Budget 2021
Covid-19 induced Economic Crisis and Union Budget 2021-22:
The ongoing pandemic has put forward numerous challenges for the everyone and one of the those includes the Economic Crisis and the related Budget. This session with Prof. R. Nagraj on 22nd February was dedicated to discuss the Economic situation of the country and how to deal with it. Along with that, the guest speaker shared his interpretation of the Budget 2021-22 and how it foresees the Covid-19 pandemic to uplift the economic situation prevailing in the country

Events (2019-20)
1) Annual Lecture on “Inequality, Poverty and Population in India’s Economy” by Professor S. Subrmanian
In times where our economy is doubted to be on falling trends, it’s necessary for us to look back to the root problems we are facing at present in our economy. Ecozest presented a special lecture on Inequality, Poverty and Population in India’s Economy by the guest speaker Professor S. Subramanian on 30th September 2019. Sir is a retired professor of Madras Institute of Development Studies and also a former National Fellow of Indian Council of Social Science Research. Having authored books which include Rights, Deprivation and Disparity, Essays in Concepts and Measurement, The Poverty Line and Economic Offences. His work and knowledge in the field of Development Economics, Collective Choice Theory and Social & Economic Measurements have earned him laurels and eminence not only in India but abroad too.
2) Econflix’20 – Annual Economics Fest 2020
The annual fest this year was based on the popular theme of ‘Netflix’. It aimed at combining the popular Netflix shows with the economy. A series of 5 events were conducted throughout the day on 17th February 2020 offering a price worth of Rs. 1, 00,000. The events are as follows :
i) FLIX’IT – Not everything is learnt through books so flix’it is a platform for you all to watch the shows you can and trigger your inner wizard. Flix’It consists of a pop-quiz based on the popular shows on Netflix. Through numerous elimination rounds, buzzer round and rapid fire rounds, the event was successfully hosted by Shivangi SIkarwar (Batch 2021) and Aman Bhatnagar (Batch 2021).
ii) THE GAME PLAN – Bid! Bid! Bid! Luck, strategy and knowledge all go hand in hand. If you owe all then come take a challenge with our football biding. Anmol Dwidevi (Batch 2021) not only got a huge pool of responses but also proudly hosted the event.
iii) THE HIEST – Mystery awaits you and sometimes the treasure is just in front of your eyes. Our treasure hunt event recorded a huge number of participation from colleges all around Delhi. Akanksha (Batch 2021) was in-charge of the event.
iv) BEARS AND BULLS – Rumours come and go so you should choose the ones beneficial for you. Our Mock Stock event helps you widen your portfolio and perspective about stock market. Abhishek Chowdhury (Batch 2021) took the initiative of organising the insightful mock stock event. It was indeed a successful event.
v) HOUSE OF ARGUMENTS – Ever since the mankind has known economics, the debates have essentially become an indispensable part in formulation of new theories. Chehak Chandalia (Batch 2021) chaired the conventional debate organised during the annual economics fest. It was an honour to have our college alumni as a three judge panel – Divyam Sharma (Batch 2019), Karan Pawaria (Batch 2019) and Divya Srinivasan (Batch 2018).
Motion: THW suspend trade union powers and significantly relax labour protection laws in times of economic crisis.

The Economics Department organised an annual trip to Manali and Kasol in the month of February.

Events (2018-19)
1) Annual Lecture by Prof. Biswajit Dhar – On 2nd November 2018, Ecozest conducted an annual seminar on the topic ‘India’s engagement with free trade agreement’ , where the guest speaker was Prof. Biswajit Dhar, a renowned professor from Centre of Economic Studies and Planning, JNU. The Seminar was a grand success, with not only students attending it in large numbers but they also asked a number of questions related to the mentioned topic.
2) EKOINIA’19 – the annual fest – Ecozest proudly conducted EKOINIA’19, the annual economics fest on 15th & 16th February 2019. It was a combination of the best of both worlds, mixing pleasure and brain-storming in a way seldom experienced before. A series of 7 events were organised in the annual fest :
· Ecognition – This paper presentation event is conducted to magnify your trivial observations into comprehensive premises. Here the participants are required to prepare an abstract paper on any topic pertaining to economics where the abstract should not exceed 1000 words. Selected teams would be allowed to compete on the final day with each team given a presentation time of 15 minutes.
· Breaking Share- This mock stock event aims at recognising greater abilities of a person in predicting stock market analysis and market trends. It contains of preliminary rounds and rounds of trading wherein participants freely compete with each other.
· AD-DICTION – The Ad Mad competition ‘where creativity meets madness’ under EKOINIA aims to provide a platform to participants to explore and present their talent and creativity in advertising a product. Concept of ad, team work, ability to attract audience and ability to highlight the idea of product with minimum efforts in judged here.
· The Lock Room – The treasure hunt event unwraps the scavenger in you, where each team races against the time, daunting tasks to be the first in finding the hidden treasure.
· Bid for Ball – Here, participants are provided with a chance to be a football manager and step into their shoes. They are required to manage their teams and ensure that their team wins it all.
· Vox Populi- Agriculture is a vital sector that is often left outside of public policy framework but as the voices keep getting louder, its about time we deliberate how to best go about the measures for the agriculture revolution.
Motion: THBT agriculture subsidies do more harm than good.
· Qreka – Qreka not only checks the level of quizzing but also provides a fun platform of answering question.
3) Fresher’s 2018 – Batch of 2021 was warmly welcomed by the Batch of 2019. Two freshers were organised during the year 2018, that is – official and unofficial. Unofficial fresher’s took place on 21st August 2018 in Londoners Bistro and Official fresher’s took place on 5th October 2018 in Deshbandhu College.
4) Farewell 2019 – Batch of 2019 was given a fitting send-off from the juniors during the official farewell 2019, which took place in the college premises on 13th April 2019.
