Davidson on Wall Street

In March, 10 students attended the sixth annual Davidson on Wall Street career trek to experience a firsthand look at some of the country’s top names in financial services. In addition to visiting six firms, students were able to explore New York City and attend a networking event with local Davidson alumni. Several of the 2023 participants have already secured summer 2023 and summer 2024 internships with firms such as Bank of America, Self Help Credit Union, and Wells Fargo.


Organizations visited included: JPMorgan, Wells Fargo, Morgan Stanley, East Rock Capital, and Training the Street.

SXSW Career Trek

A group of 10 sophomore, junior and senior students took a portion of Spring Break and traveled to Austin, Texas to attend the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference under the supervision of the Matthews Center for Career Development and the Jay Hurt Hub for Innovation & Entrepreneurship.  Students attended conference sessions that focused on advertising & brand experience, climate change, energy, culture, health & medtech, startups, sports, and film & TV. Students experienced unparalleled discovery, learning, professional development, and networking with creatives from around the world at SXSW.

Women of Color Career Trek 

A group of up to 14 first year-senior students were selected to participate in a career exploration trek to Atlanta, Georgia at the start of Spring Break 2023. Students experienced unparalleled discovery, learning, professional development, and networking with employers and alumni in the Atlanta area under the supervision of the Matthews Center for Career Development. This career trek empowered student participants to further develop their understanding of the challenges and opportunities in pursuing a variety of careers.


Organizations visited included: Bain & Company, BCG Brighthouse, Brasfield & Gorrie, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Emory University, School of Medicine, and  Kids Alive International.

Pro Sports & Sports Analytics Career Trek

A group of 10 junior and senior students took a portion of Fall Break and traveled to New York City to meet with various organizations such as the NFL, Fan Duel, Excel Sports Management, and the MLS. Students attended a Charlotte FC vs. NYC Red Bulls soccer game and attended a networking reception with local alumni.

JOB SHADOWING EXTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Students participated in immersive career exploration experiences over the summer through the ninth year of the Job Shadowing Externship Program. The program pairs students from all majors with parent and alumni hosts in a variety of fields, providing the unique opportunity to learn more about a profession firsthand and gain invaluable insight from an industry mentor.

2022-23 Davidson Impact Fellowship Program

The mission of the Davidson Impact Fellowship Program (DIF) is to provide high-impact fellowship positions for graduating Davidson students with key nonprofit leaders at the forefront of critical social issues. DIF empowers postgraduate fellows to create and implement solutions to the most urgent problems confronting communities, fostering leadership, and promoting robust social change.


Thanks to the generosity of the Harvey family, underscored by partners at Wells Fargo Securities, Levine Foundation, and the Duke Endowment, this postgraduate fellowship initiative has empowered Davidson graduates to work with organizations addressing critical social issues such as health, education, policy, social justice and the environment. The 2022-2023 program welcomed a new organization, Leading On Opportunity, based in Charlotte.
