In the Fall of 2022, the Matthews Center piloted a new format for consulting and finance employer engagement with students in the form of Employer Info Session Nights (EISN). These sessions were designed to allow students to engage with multiple employers over the course of a one hour block, and let employers meet with a wide range of interested students. In total, 3 separate Fall EISN’s were offered that engaged a total of 15 employers and 150+ students. A sampling of participating employers includes Wells Fargo, JPMorgan, Ally, Bain, Deloitte, and Accenture.
The program continued its pilot in the Spring of 2023 with a focus in Biotechnology. This event featured Precision BioSciences, ProKidney, SNP Therapeutics, and PharPoint Research and saw 34 students in attendance for another successful evening. The Matthews Center expanded its already strong connection with Georgia Justice Project (GJP), an Atlanta-based organization that serves Georgians impacted by the criminal legal system. Under leadership of Davidson alum Doug Ammar (’84), GJP has hosted graduating seniors for a one-year fellowship through the Davidson Impact Fellows Program. This year, GJP welcomed a Davidson undergraduate student to its summer internship program that provided the student tremendous insight into the social justice work GJP accomplishes. Additionally, the internship demonstrated extended collaboration, as funding was provided by Davidson alum David Bernard (’79).
