Our Greek leader of the Year is someone that redefined and reimagined bid day for their chapter and the larger Inter-Sorority Council community. As written by her nominator, “(She) was a leader in creating bid day for Kappa Kappa Gamma and inspiring dramatic positive change... She inspires others with her leadership and has been transformative in shaping our new member experience for the better.”
Being a chapter president is a difficult and demanding job; it requires a certain amount of selflessness to consistently prioritize the needs and interests of one’s members for the duration of a year. This year’s President of the Year was described as someone that “worked tirelessly to ensure that the relationships between fraternities and sororities are built on honesty, mutual respect, and friendship by promoting sisterhood, philanthropy, and bonding events with many of those in the Greek/Dartmouth communities.” This individual is someone that has dedicated her term to the wellness of her peers and belief in the sorority experience. It is a privilege to have worked with her.
While our 2020 Advisor of the Year has committed to positively impacting the overall wellness of his chapter, he has most notably held a GPA scholarship reception to encourage scholastic success and opened his home to brothers over their sophomore summer to hear about their Dartmouth experiences. One of his six nominators had this to say: “He emphasizes the importance of character for all our members, and embodies our motto of “come as you are” by making the chapter a place that everyone can be themselves in.”
The Kaiser Awards recognize seniors who have gone above and beyond in giving back to and improving the Greek Community.
Sanat is someone that has worked to create a culture of compassion within the larger Dartmouth community and challenge the stigmatization of being a fraternity man by encouraging conversations pertaining to mental health. He founded Unmasked, an anonymous, mental health social media mobile application for college students. As described on Unmasked’s website, “Students take off their masks and share what’s really going on.” The Office of Greek Life is continuously amazed by affiliated students’ creativity and innovation to address the needs of others, and Sanat\is no exception.
In addition to maintaining his commitment to academics, Saheer has held numerous internships and served his fraternity as chapter president. What is most impressive, however, is his dedication to philanthropy. He served as an executive committee member for the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth Hero, helping to create fundraising initiatives and orchestrate the 2800+ person event as the lead student member of the Committee; he ultimately raised $52,671 as the top fundraiser in 2019. It is an honor to present Saheer as a Kaiser award winner.
As someone involved in Soyeya, Dartmouth Rockapellas, Black Praxis, and FYSEP, Esther is recognized as being a positive force on Dartmouth’s campus. One of her nominators wrote, “My favorite part of her presence on campus is how, in everything she does, in every community she’s a part of, she continues to help promote inclusivity through her support of black women and other cultures on campus.” She has spent the last year serving as Vice President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and spearheaded her chapter’s Get Lit Get Fit Program, “a program designed to help women at Dartmouth, specifically those of color, to start their fitness journeys and discover the fun in getting active.” It is because of her many contributions to our institution, but particularly her dedication to this program, that we would like to recognize Esther as a Kaiser award recipient.
Michael showed to be a very active House Manager for Beta, as well as make sure the organization did everything the college required by asking to meet with residential operations very often every term. He would ask for pre inspections before all FISH under his time as HM. Kudos for his work for the most thankless job.
When Ali took over as House Manager she asked to meet with Residential Operations to make sure she understood what was expected of a HM in a College own house. From the get go Ali came to Residential Operations with questions & asked for advice on a regular basis. Kudos to Ali for her hard work.
We would like to recognize Samantha for all the other areas of concern with campus life as well as House Manager for all her hard work in AXD and on campus!!
