Application

Before applying to Dartmouth as an exchange student, students must first successfully complete the selection process at their home university. The international or study away office at your home university will be able to provide the necessary details. Students accepted for the exchange by their home university will then be nominated for admission at Dartmouth.

The Guarini Institute will contact nominated students with instructions for completing the Dartmouth College exchange application process once the application is open. The steps of this process are as follows:

1. Student creates an account and complete the registration form. This includes:

• Biographical information

• A personal statement about their interest in participating on the exchange at Dartmouth College

• A copy of their unofficial transcript

• Proof of English language proficiency (only required for students who are not native speakers of English and whose home school curriculum is not taught in English). Click here for guidelines on what qualifies for proof of proficiency.

2. After the review process, accepted students will receive an official acceptance letter listing the acceptance decision and the offer of admission. A  copy of the letter can be accessed at any time in the application portal under the Applicant Home's Program Info tab.

3. Accepted students confirm their commitment to the program in the application portal.

4. Committed students will then be registered at the College. After students receive and claim their Dartmouth ID and email, they will start to be contacted by appropriate offices to prepare for their term ahead. Most of this contact occurs early in the term that precedes the student's first term on-campus (i.e. early summer term for students entering the fall).
