Typically, exchange students pay tuition and fees to their home school and are billed by Dartmouth for a meal plan and housing.*
Miscellaneous spending money and other "indirect" costs are paid directly by the student to the vendor.
Students who receive financial aid/ scholarships should inquire with their home school and ask if that funding can apply to an exchange program.
*Students participating in the 12 College exchange and Thayer Dual-Degree program pay tuition and fees to their host school (Dartmouth) instead of their home school.

Inbound exchange students do not qualify for Dartmouth financial aid in the same way as regular, matriculated Dartmouth students. Instead, students should consult with their home school about costs of the exchange and any relevant information on scholarships or aid specific to their home school and/or the exchange.
Some exchange programs have unique scholarship components. This can mean that students may receive or apply to receive additional funding to pay for some of the estimated direct and/or indirect costs. Students should consult with their home school for more information.
