Mr. Christopher Martin
Principal
and
Ms. Jaclyn Smith
Assistant Principal
On behalf of all the staff members at Leaders Heights Elementary, we welcome you to our new school year.
Leaders Heights Elementary has a rich tradition focused on developing our students' skills and talents. The focus is on developing the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally. We are a K-3 building that implements the rigorous DASD Elementary Curriculum. Our classrooms are heterogeneously grouped, and our students are given numerous opportunities to demonstrate success. Our ultimate goal is to enhance our students' skills so that they become lifelong learners and high-functioning, productive members of their communities.
Leaders Heights Elementary has professional staff members and support staff members who are extremely dedicated to the students we serve. These staff members bring to our students a rich background of knowledge and experiences. We all appreciate the opportunities we have to impact Leaders Heights students in a positive way.
Leaders Heights Elementary has a very active PTO organization. Their hard work and dedication have a profound impact on our Leaders Heights learning community. This organization’s strong leadership, support, encouragement, and commitment to its goal of supporting and encouraging students reinforce the learning gains of students and staff. Please consider becoming an active member.
Please feel free to contact any of us at Leaders Heights if you would like more information about our school. It would be our pleasure to assist you. Have a wonderful school year.
Sincerely,
Christopher J. Martin and Jaclyn Smith
Principal Assistant Principal

Arrival Procedure:
All cars should enter and exit using the Fair Acres Drive Entrance. Students who are eating breakfast may enter the building between 8:15-8:30 AM. Please pull up to the front of the cafeteria curb to drop them off. The rest of the students are not permitted to enter the building before 8:30 AM. Car riders who are not eating breakfast should wait in line to be called forward to drop off their children at 8:30. Parents need to have their children sit in their vehicles where they can easily exit on the passenger’s side. Parents are reminded that they should not get out of their vehicles during this time. From 8:30-8:50 AM, students will be permitted to enter the building and walk to their classrooms. The official school day begins at 8:50 AM. If your child arrives after 8:50, they will need to be driven to the office by the flagpole, escorted into the building by an adult, and signed in at the front office.
Dismissal Procedure:
Car riders will be dismissed at 3:25 PM. The first parent to arrive (PLEASE not before 3:20!) should park outside of our cafeteria in the car rider loop. Students will be asked to remain on the porch until an adult on duty has dismissed them to their cars. Parents should not get out of their cars. Students who have issues buckling are welcome to pull into a parking space to make sure they are properly secured. We will not allow students to walk around the vehicle because of safety concerns.

Our school, along with the other K-3 buildings in the district, will be incorporating fun, engaging, Learning Through Play activities and a program called Choose Love for Schools which plays an important role in promoting students' social and emotional well-being, and academic and personal success. It also enhances our classroom and school climate, making it a place where students are safe, compassionate, connected, and able to thrive.
The Choose Love for Schools Program is a comprehensive curriculum that supports, nurtures, and fosters the whole child. Students will learn skills and tools they will use throughout their lives, to be honest, trustworthy, caring and compassionate, self-disciplined, intellectually curious, fair, and respectful.
Students learn how to thoughtfully respond by choosing love. The program’s foundation is a formula: Courage + Gratitude + Forgiveness + Compassion in Action = Choosing Love. We use courage daily to choose love over fear. Practicing gratitude helps us focus on what we have. Forgiveness is the key to healthy relationships and compassion in action helps us connect with and help others.
We hope you will share in this journey with your children, asking questions about what they have learned and enjoying the benefits of the program as well. Please check out the Choose Love At Home Program for families and caregivers. You can learn alongside your children and incorporate these skills and tools to promote Social and Emotional Learning in your home, and even within yourself! www.chooselovemovement.org.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the building principal for more information.
