Teachers are expected to attend all Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings for students they serve, arriving punctually and prepared to contribute meaningfully. Teachers may be asked to provide academic, behavioral, attendance, and classroom performance data to assist with progress monitoring, annual reviews, and reevaluation processes.
Special Education students follow the same grading policy as general education students. If a Special Education student fails a class, evidence of accommodations and/or modifications provided to the student should be submitted to the grade-level counselor, Special Education lead, and Special Education administrator to be maintained with the student's special education records.
All employees are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of student information, including records and information related to special education services. Information regarding a student's disability, evaluation results, Individualized Education Program (IEP), accommodations, services, and educational progress is protected by federal and state laws, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Staff members may only access and share confidential student information when there is a legitimate educational need to know and must take appropriate measures to safeguard records and discussions. Any IEP documents, evaluation reports, accommodation plans, progress reports, or other special education records provided to teachers or staff must be stored securely and always treated as confidential. When these documents are no longer needed, they must be returned to the Special Education Department for proper shredding and disposal.
