💰 FAFSA: What You Need to Know
FAFSA is a Texas high school graduation requirement, and completing it is also an important step toward receiving financial aid for college.
Financial aid can include grants, scholarships (financial aid and merit based), and work-study so completing the FAFSA is important even if you are not sure whether you will qualify for financial aid.
Before you start, you will need:
1. An FSA ID/account for the student
The student needs their own FSA account.
2. An FSA ID/account for the parent
The parent contributing information to the FAFSA will also need their own FSA account.
For each account, you will need:
Full legal name
Date of birth
Email address
Phone number
Social security number
Please write your log in information down. It is VERY hard to reset these accounts once created!
3. 2025 tax information
Have your 2025 tax information and W2s available.
4. Financial and asset information, if applicable
This may include information about:
Savings and checking accounts
Investments
529 college savings accounts
Additional properties
Farms or businesses operated for profit
Financial aid and some scholarships can have deadlines and limited funding, so don't wait!
The FAFSA must be completed by both the student and parent when parent information is required.
After both the student and parent have completed the FAFSA, a FAFSA confirmation or completion record will be sent to the student's email. You must send your FAFSA confirmation to our ASP team so we can mark your FAFSA requirement as complete for graduation.
