It is a brand new year, everyone, with promising scholarships ahead for all of you! It’s 2022 and the seniors reading this have only about five months left before their graduation date. Yikes. In dedication to you, I will be covering the Josephine County Education Fund Local Scholarship and, hopefully, the younger classes will take this as an opportunity to prepare yourselves for this same scholarship when it comes time for you to apply. The JCEF is a scholarship that is available to all the graduating high school seniors that reside in Josephine County or are in attendance at one of the high schools described on the right.
*Please note that this scholarship requires that your FAFSA be filed.
This scholarship is one of the easier ones, in my opinion-. Eeven if it does have six mini-essays strewn throughout it, they only have to be approximately 200 words each--which, if you have been keeping up with this column, is a relatively small essay. However, the essays are only about half the ordeal; the other half is approximately ten percent of just filling out one's demographics (household size, household income, and the like) and the rest is picking the right people to write two letters of recommendation for you. This step is the most important, as it requires others to submit the letter on their behalf, so remember to have the teachers you chose submit the letter before the due date.
Other important details include a transcript sent in by your corresponding school counselor. The wonderful people in the College and Career Center will also be able to help you with filling out your application if you need any additional help. Once again, remember to use the other form at the bottom of the page to provide some feedback.
