Kid Cudi, also known as Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, is a 40-year-old American rapper and songwriter. He is known for his songs, “Day N Nite”, “Just What I Am", and “Pursuit of Happiness”. In addition to his singing, he has also acted in films like X, Intergalactic, and A Man Named Scott. Just recently, Cudi released his new album INSANO on Jan. 12, 2024.
INSANO is Cudi’s ninth studio album. It was released/produced by Wicked Awesome Records and Republic Records. The genre of INSANO is hip hop and rap, and it features other rappers such as: Travis Scott, ASAP Rocky, Lil Yachty, Pharrell Williams, XXXTentacion, Lil Wayne, and Young Thug. INSANO plays for about 16 minutes, with a whopping total of 18 songs.
According to Genius, the top song on INSANO is “AT THE PARTY,” which is about the emotions and sensations of going to a party and some of the experiences that come along with it. Some other top songs are: “GET OFF ME”, and “ELECTROWAVEBABY". What The Beat states, “'GET OFF ME' is a braggadocious anthem that celebrates success, confidence, and self-assuredness.” In the song, Cudi claims his dominance, and his lyrics suggest he is unbothered by the haters, and he is focussing on his goals, success, and wealth. What The Beat also states, “'ELECTROWAVEBABY' by Kid Cudi is a vibrant and energetic song that captures the essence of a carefree Friday night.” The song encourages listeners to enjoy life without overthinking, and to not take the little things and pleasure in life for granted. So if anyone is looking for a new summer song to scream in the car with the windows rolled down, this one is for you.
INSANO is marking the third-highest debut of the week and the fifth best-selling album of the week, with 8,500 sold. Pitchfork rated INSANO a 4.6/10 and stated, “In the few spots where things level out, he either sounds out of place or gets lapped by another artist.” Out of 109 people on Google Reviews, INSANO is rated with a total of 4.4/5 stars. Some reviews are very positive, including g an anonymous fan who said, "I actually really enjoyed my listen with Insano and it gets better each time.” Meanwhile, some are negative, like the person who said, “This album is a complete mess. Almost all of the songs were boring and repetitive.” Additionally, some gave great feedback: “A big issue I had with the album tho is it felt a bit bloated. If he cut out 3-4 songs, it’d be a much better album.”
On Wed., Mar. 6, 2024, Cudi announced his INSANO world tour. With over 40 locations, Cudi will be touring in North America, the UK, and Europe, beginning in the summer of 2024. He is touring with Pusha T & Jaden Smith, with fans hoping that J.Cole and Travis Scott will make appearances. On Aug. 22, 2024, Kid Cudi will be in Portland, OR at the Moda Center. Tickets start at $65 for general admission and $250 for VIP on Ticketmaster.
