Rebirth conveys a journey filled with beautiful locations, endless side quests, and profound character development.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, which was released in 2020. The two current developments are in a planned trilogy of games, remaking the original 1997 PlayStation game Final Fantasy VII. Rebirth Originally entered production in Nov. 2019, prior to the initial release of Remake, and was later announced in June of 2022. According to CNET, “Rebirth is a triumph and a joyful modernization that thoughtfully reimagines the original and sets the curve for video game remakes. It also proves that Final Fantasy VII is probably the only game that deserves to be remade in such a way.” It is evident that the middle game shows a newfound level of adaptation which has yet to be displayed in Remake.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is an action RPG that follows the journey of Cloud Strife, whom players primarily control. The main objective of this game is to pursue the fallen hero, Sephiroth, as Cloud and his comrades journey through the world, finding themselves in a situation that will determine the fate of the planet. The game presents a vast amount of expansive open world areas in which players can indulge in various side quests and activities. Consisting of six different regions, Rebirth successfully creates a world that feels alive and worth exploring—considering the 50+ hours of gameplay.
According to fans, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a game that individuals should at least consider playing—even for those who are unfamiliar with the franchise. The video game news website, TheGamer, states, “I’ve never seen a Final Fantasy game feel this alive before. Even if nostalgia plays an integral part in my own connection to it, so much love has gone into expanding upon the memories I already have.” It is easy to say that fans can come to agreement and acknowledge how much heart was put into each aspect of the game.
