Apple Apps: Allow your students to choose to use the powerful and free Apple apps available on the iPad. Even if you are not yet familiar with Pages, Keynote, Numbers, Clips, and iMovie note that all of these apps are very intuitive and can be offered as one of many choices for students to demonstrate their learning and express their views and ideas. Work on these apps are automatically backed up on unlimited student iCloud accounts. In addition, many of the Apple apps now allow multiple users to collaborate on their work (Keynote, Pages, Numbers). New features have been added that take advantage of the Logitech Crayon that students will have access to in your classroom. To learn more about these apps make sure you sign up and visit the Apple Teacher Center.
Many of the district service apps and the creation, student voice, and productivity apps listed above will be installed on student devices. Due to the size of some apps as well as the number of apps, students may also need to force install them by manually downloading apps from the Catalog.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you can’t find an app you’ve already requested and has been approved in the Catalog, please
Force reset the iPad by simultaneously holding down the power button and the Home button (the round one on the front of the device) until the Apple logo appears.
Ensure the iPad is connected to the Wifi
Open the “Catalog” on the device(s) and press “install”. Catalog Instructions
If that still doesn’t work, please email service@d62.org with the student's Apple ID.
REMOVING APPS FROM STUDENT iPAD
If you’d like to remove an app from student devices, email service@d62.org with the apps that you want removed along with your school and grade level.
ADDING APPS
As highlighted in the Core Values section of this site, the program is more about creation of content, igniting creativity, student voice and choice, and providing opportunities for anytime anywhere learning, not centered on the apps themselves. Teachers are encouraged to use the apps provided on the iPad and to go through training and professional development before looking to add and request additional apps. The already established system to request apps will continue to be used. However, due to the size of the Phase 1 implementation, teachers should be aware feedback on app approval may take some time.
For any app request please complete the app request form . All apps will require administrator approval and need to be available from the Volume Purchase Program. The majority of apps will be paid for by the Technology Department.
APP CATALOG
The Teacher iPad is setup to access a Catalog of apps similar to the one students access. Any free or paid apps that have gone through the App Review Process will be available to download from the Catalog (Catalog Instructions). If you don't see an app you've requested previously, please email service@d62.org.
ADDING NEW APPS
There are two options for adding new apps to your teacher device.
If there is an app you'd like to request (outside the Core) be added to your catalog, please go through the App Review Process. There may be a delay on getting this approved during peak busy seasons. The core apps are available as a foundation for your teaching and learning needs, but the team will review app requests as quickly as possible. Note, due to the size of the Phase 1 implementation, educators should be aware feedback on app approval may take some time.
Teachers may download apps to use for their own productivity or collaboration using a personal Apple ID. Unfortunately the District 62 Apple IDs don't allow users to make purchases from the App Store. *Please note: before any app can be used with students or any student information is entered, it needs to be approved using the App Review Process so it can be reviewed for legal reasons. Directions on how to link your District 62 iCloud Apple ID with a personal Apple ID below.
