Fruita Middle School students must face the dangers of the outside bugs. Bugs have a reigning terror over mankind as it is a common fear among the population. How dangerous are they? Why are they so feared? After all, aren’t they just small pests?
10. Locusts
According to Ehrlich Pest Control, locusts are widely known to cause crop devastation and starve millions of people. In recent times, locusts are kept as class pets. So, while not directly harmful to people, they are passively harmful when they get their hands on our crops.
9. Bot Flies
Bot Flies sound like an extremely weird name and they are an extremely weird bug. In the same article by Ehrlich Pest Control, having the infection from Bot Flies feels like having flies under your skin and eating their way out. These bugs find their home near your neck.
8. Giant Japanese Hornets
No wonder why these things are called giants. Ehrlich states that these hornets have a toxin in their stingers that can cause paralysis and kidney failure. If you go to Asia, watch out for these guys!
7. Bees
Bees, we see them everywhere right? However, these cute things hide a monster within. When aggravated, they are told to come in armies and are aiming to "eliminate" you (Ehrlich). Don’t mess with them.
6. Mosquitoes
In the article Ehrlich Pest Control, they are told to carry LIFE-THREATENING diseases. They are everywhere and love to be in water and damp places. They breed everywhere, too.
5. Fleas
These beasts are found in any animal, really. Ehrlich says that they have caused devastation worldwide. Why? Because they are blood-thirsty.
4. Kissings Bugs
Do these bugs kiss you? No.. Not at all. These guys are also blood-sucking parasites. “So if you breathe through your mouth, you are a target.” - Ehrlich.
3. Fire Ants
These ants love building colonies near you. If you step on them, you will get surrounded by these ants and they will bite you! According to Ehrlich, Fire Ants can also give you severe infections.
2. Bullet Ants
Why are they called bullet ants? Maybe because being bitten by them feels like you're being shot. “At a minimum, the pain is extreme, sometimes leading to paralysis.” - Ehrlich. How terrifying!
1. Driver Ants.
The top three have been ants. These guys are dangerous! Also known as “Dorylus”, these ants are used by people to cut things due to their strong claws. If they get hold of you, they probably won't let go!
Now, thankfully many of these bugs live in Asia. However, some of these bugs like bees terrorize our very playground. After reading, you now know the danger of these insects and how they can hurt you! Always carry some bug spray if you go out and about, because these bugs might get you!
