Kindness is one of the most beautiful things in the world. And just a little bit can turn a person's day into something great. To achieve this idea, high schools in the D51 school district have created KIC week. KIC stands for 'Kindness Is Contagious'. This is a week dedicated to spreading kindness, and showing how one kind act affects a whole lot more than you think. 

KIC week for this year, is February 9th to 13th, and high schools from Palisade to Fruita Monument will be participating. Our middle school, FMS, will also be having an assembly on February 8th, during 8th and 9th hour. This assembly will be dedicated to KIC week, and the spread of kindness. 

In order to get us in the KIC mindset, here is a list of kind things for you to think about doing!

1. Give a teacher a thank you note.

2. Give an unexpected gift

3. Show a smile to a stranger

4. Leave random notes of affirmation

5. Help someone with homework

These are a few options but there are many more. This following week, I encourage you to show extra kindness to the world.

The day that is entirely made for love. Valentine's Day. People are asking each other out and giving each other lots of chocolates and roses. Pink, red, and white are common colors, and hearts flash every which way. 

This Valentine's Day, candy grams will be what is passed around. Costing only $2 and heart-shaped, each candy gram can be given to anyone, from your crush to your best friend or even your favorite teacher. They taste great and are a perfect Valentine's gift.

 This Valentine's Day is special, as it is the first time in five years that it will not fall on a school day. This year, Valentine's Day, February 14th, will fall on a Saturday, and it is going to be an amazing day.

Our school does a spirit week to show people our school spirit and how excited we are about it. 

Monday 2/9/26: Warm and fuzzy! (Snuggly sweaters, fun cozy socks, sweatpants)

Tuesday 2/10/26: Camo day! (Don't hide your kindness)

Wednesday 2/11/26: Red and pink! (Wear all red and pink)

Thursday 2/12/26: Kindness is contagious/KIC! (Wear green clothes)

Friday 2/13/26: Unite in kindness (Wear FMS/FMHS gear/cloths)
