A Place to Highlight The Students and Staff at Fruita Middle School!!!
By AJ Wade, 7th grade Editor
7th graders at FMS aren't very talkative, so when you get the chance to interview one, then you must take it. I had the chance to interview 7th grader Reese Holman.
Reese Holman is actually in journalism, so it wasn't that hard to score an interview with him. I had him sit down next to me. I then started to ask him questions. The first question I asked was simple: Tell me a little about yourself. He replied with "I play a lot of tennis, I’m a really good gamer, and I sleep a lot.” My next question was "Do you play any sports?" and he told me "Tennis, Football, but there's a lot more though."
Then I started asking more "deeper" questions: What's your favorite subject? He told me, "Social studies because I had some of the best teachers in social studies for the past 4 years, and I also just really like history.” I then asked him who his favorite teacher was, and he said, “Mr. Williams, because he was just genuinely a good guy, and was just more chill than most teachers.” I then asked him how he feels about high school, because it's just 2 years away. He told me, "I feel it will be easy; I will actually be able to legally drive.” Then I asked him about his most embarrassing moment. Now, I was given consent to share this, even though this is his second, and I still find it shocking. He told me, "My shorts fell down while I was tubing in Lake Powell. I had to wear a skirt, because it was the only spare clothes we had on the boat.”
That was all the questions I had for Reese Holman. As I laughed at his embarrassing moment, I thought about what he said about his life.
Kaelyn Preisser, A Fantastic Friend.
By Vada Martens, 7th Grade Reporter
She's an insanely talented artist, a creative human, and an incredible friend. Core 7-2's Kaelyn Preisser is an all-around awesome human being. I have had the fantastic opportunity to be friends with such a wonderful human for 5-ish years now (being that we met in 2nd grade). I've seen her walk up to someone having a terrible day, someone she had never spoken to, and just talk to the kid about what was going on in their life and do her best to make them feel better. Kaelyn and I started talking, and I got an interview over text: “What are your thoughts about middle school now that we’re in 7th grade?” She replied by telling me, “I personally can't believe that we’re already in 7th grade! It feels like we were in 2nd grade yesterday! And middle school is definitely more eventful than elementary school!”
My second question was, “Who’s your favorite teacher so far, and why are they your favorite?” Kaelyn replied, “My favorite teacher so far is Mr. Cole, but the others are not far behind. I feel like I enjoy all of the teachers this year, but Mr. Cole is my favorite. I chose him because he has a good sense of humor, and he also supports bad endings to stories! Have you ever met a teacher who does that? Mr. Cole is definitely my favorite.” Which came as no surprise to me, Mr. Cole is a fantastic teacher.
The next question was, “What’s been your funniest moment in class?” Kaelyn replied, “My funniest moment in class from last year was probably when I dressed up as an Oompa Loompa and sang the first song in 'Willy Wonka' to the whole science class.” Which I vividly remember, and she continued, “But I am yet to have a funny moment in class for this year.”
I will start our fourth question by telling you that this was one of my favorites: “Does pineapple belong on pizza?” Which Kaelyn typed, “Okay, to all of you pineapple lovers out there, NO! PINEAPPLE DOESN'T BELONG ON PIZZA! PLEASE STOP SAYING THAT IT DOES! PINEAPPLE IS THE WORST POSSIBLE THING THAT YOU CAN PUT ON PIZZA! WORSE THAN ANCHOVIES! Anyways, those are just my thoughts.” (Honestly, Pineapple belongs on pizza, per this author.)
Next question, favorite class? Kaelyn's response was, “I don't think that I really have a favorite class. They are all pretty good because the teachers do a great job in making them fun, but I do enjoy what we are learning in science right now. Seeing how the molecules react is really fun.” Which is agreeable.
The 6th question was, “What's your favorite show?” The response I got was, “My favorite show is probably Arcane or Regular Show. I enjoy both, and I feel like it's a good balance between funny and serious.” And I completely agree, those shows are really good!
Our final question was, “What’s your favorite song?” and to my surprise, she told me, “My favorite song changes quite often, but right now I like 'This is how I disappear' by My Chemical Romance and 'Lucky us' by Crown the Empire.”

Talor: "How many years have you worked for FMS, and if you have worked at multiple schools, how many years in total?"
Mrs. Morgan: “I worked at FMS for 14 years, and no other schools.”
Talor: Do you like teaching 7th-grade Social Studies?
Mrs. Morgan: “I like teaching it, yes.”
Talor: "What do you like most about teaching?"
Mrs. Morgan: “Sharing all of the really cool things about history with my students.”
Talor: "What is your favorite lunch at this school?"
Mrs. Morgan: “I don't really eat school lunch, but I've heard the baked ziti is pretty good.”
Talor: "If you could teach any other subject for a day, what would it be and why?"
Morgan: “I think I would teach ELA or probably science.”
Talor: "If you could teach a sport at this school, which one?"
Morgan: “Cross-country running or skiing would be fun.”
Talor: "What was your favorite field trip you went on in your 14 years?"
Morgan: “One time, we went to Camp Cedaredge, and we did the low ropes course with the 7th graders. It was an obstacle course with ropes, and it was really fun!”
Talor: "If you weren't a teacher, what job would you do?"
Morgan: “I would love to work at a history museum.”
Talor: "What is your spirit animal?"
Morgan: “I would be a fox, if I had a spirit animal.”
Talor: "If you could make a school club, what would it be?"
Morgan: “If I had the time, I would make a hiking club or something like that, because I think it would be fun to go spend time outside in a really pretty space.”
