What is it about the Olympics that makes them so great? Is it because they bring everyone together, even from different countries? Or is it because they bring world peace and joy? Maybe it's both, or maybe it's something else completely. Either way, we can agree that the Olympic Games are pretty awesome to watch.
The Olympics started in 776 BCE in Olympia, Greece. It was invented to be held every four years to honor the Greek god Zeus and Nike. The Olympics sadly ended in 393 CE at the hands of the Roman emperor Theodosius. But on April 6, 1896, the games returned to Athens, Greece. And this year, the Winter Games will be held in Italy.
The best part about this year’s Olympics is that we have someone in the Fruita family taking part in this incredible experience. Our very own Ms. Blackwell’s brother, Chase, will be snowboarding in the games. We wish him the best of luck.

7th Grade Wrestling Team Starts off With Super Strength.
Reese Holman (sports reporter). 2/2/2026
It takes dedication, strength, and courage. This sport is not for the weak, but if you attempt it, the payout is pretty great. Starting this February, FMS Wrestling is in the spotlight. This 7th-grade wrestling team is on a roll or just starting off. This team won 9 out of their 10 wrestling matches. I think these tiny prodigies could win the state! These amazing athletes are among the best middle school wrestlers.
To prove my point, I interviewed 7th grader Julian Daffinson to get the scoop.
“I think we have a great shot because we have an awesome variety of weight classes. I have a great passion for this wrestling team.” Daffinson went on to say, “I think we could've started wrestling sooner, and we could do a lot more practice, but other than that, it is amazing so far.”
This season sounds like it's off to a great start. We hope that FMS continues to support this amazing sport. If you want to be like these amazing prodigies, join the FMS wrestling team.

Not All Wrestling Is The Same
By Braden Thompson, 7th Grade, Sports Reporter
Wrestling has started, so let’s get ready to rumble. But this is not the kind of wrestling most people think of. When people hear the word "wrestling," they usually think of WWE. WWE may look real, but it is not real wrestling. WWE matches are planned, and the moves are set up in advance. The wrestlers are trained to work together without seriously hurting each other.
Real wrestling is different. In real wrestling, nothing is planned. Wrestlers face off and try to win through strength, speed, and skill. People can get hurt in real wrestling, which is why wrestlers have to be strong and able to move fast. Wrestlers also compete against people of their own age and weight, so that it is fair.
Last year, a new type of professional wrestling called RAF (Real American Freestyle) began. This type of wrestling focuses on real matches and real skills, not entertainment. The wrestlers win based on how good they are, not because of a script.
RAF shows what wrestling is really about. It takes hard work, practice, and dedication. Unlike WWE, RAF is about real competition and athletic ability, not acting. This gives fans a chance to see what real wrestling looks like.
Girls' Basketball Has Come to an End
By Braden Thompson, 7th Grade Sports Reporter
Girls' basketball has just come to an end, all of the teams are out, and all had a great season. 7th A team: Redlands, West, and Independence. The B team lost only to Redlands. The C team lost to Redlands. 8th-grade A team, whole family. The B team lost to Redlands. But all teams did great and put up a good fight. And all teams had a great season; they should also be happy with what they accomplished.
