There have been cases of Hand Foot and Mouth in the community. Symptoms include: fever, blisters/sores on the hands, feet and inside the mouth. Typically, a sore throat can occur with the sores in the mouth. This can be spread through coughing, sneezing (without covering the mouth), a running nose and discharge from the blisters.
Students need to remain home if they have a fever and open sores on hands and in the mouth.
The best prevention is thoroughly washing hands with soap and water. It is not recommended to share cups or drink from the same glass. Lastly, encourage covering the mouth when coughing and sneezing.
