Our annual music fundraiser with Century Resources was a success! Thank you to our families for supporting the music department! These funds continue to help grow our program and to thrive and strive in excellence. Funds go toward a multitudes of things including music, equipment, enrichment & outreach opportunities, guest artists/musicians, field trips, class resources, instruments etc. We are grateful for your support!
Congratulations to the 7 band students accepted into the ILMEA District 9 Honor Band: Brianna (clarinet), Hannah (clarinet), Parker (horn), Ellie (trumpet), Hayden (trumpet), Liam (trombone), Charlie (tuba).
The 7th Grade Band traveled to Dundee-Crown High School on Tuesday, October 8 and the 6th Grade Band traveled to Hampshire High School on Wednesday, October 30. We had a great rehearsal with their band teachers.
We look forward to seeing a large audience at our Veterans Day Band Concert on Thursday, November 7 at 7:00pm in the DMS Gym.
Congratulations to the 8th Grade Chorus for a wonderful performance at the D300 Choral Festival
Congratulations to 17 8th grade chorus students for their acceptance into the ILMEA Junior Honors Chorus. This festival will take place on November 16th at Streamwood High School.
Bella Voce & Valiant Voices uniforms are here. Dresses will come home but vests will stay at school. Both these groups will go on a mini choir tour and perform for three elementary schools on November 20th in their formal uniforms.
Looking ahead - In December we will have our Musical Workshop and auditions. BV & VV will perform at the Senior Center and Barnes n' Noble. All choir members are invited to sing at Holiday in the Hollow on December 7th at 4pm. Our chorus holiday concert is on Thursday December 19th.
Please remind your singer that they should be prepared with their choral binder and pencil on a daily basis and should spit gum out before class begins.
We look forward to seeing you at the Orchestra Concert coming up on Wednesday, November 13th. The call time for students is 6:30pm, the concert will begin at 7pm.
(A very belated) Congratulations to the 8th graders on their fabulous East Side Orchestra Festival Concert!! They represented DMS so well!!
Please make sure that your students have their classroom materials daily: Instrument, Music, Chromebook, pencils.
Please have a conversation with your kids about classroom policy of no food, no gum, or no drinks that are not water. We have lots of 7th grade orchestra students bringing coffees or energy drinks to first period orchestra as well as chewing gum.
