6th Grade ELA

6th graders will be focusing on informational text in Quarter 2. We will discuss author's perspective and purpose, non-fiction text features, as well as research and create our very own infographic.

7th Grade ELA

7th graders will begin reading The Giver by Lois Lowry. While students read the story, they will keep track of how Jonas's perspective on his community changes throughout the novel. Students will then use this information to complete their Quarter 2 writing summative.

8th Grade ELA

The 8th Grade will continue our Q2 unit that focuses on opposing perspectives. Students will read articles and watch TED Talks that feature opposing viewpoints on school start times. Then they'll evaluate how each author's techniques affect the reader. Students will use these texts and videos as research to cite in their original argument essays using relevant and reliable evidence.
