The low incidence department participated in a fun event called the Midnight Mile. During their PE/APE time, students walked or ran around the track as many times as they could with many other students at DMS. Students received a Midnight Mile T-Shirt for participating. Congratulations students!
In the beginning of second quarter the low incidence classes went to Tom's Farm Market for a community trip. At Tom's Farm Market, the students learned about the produce that farmer Tom grows at his farm. After the lesson, the students got to go on a tractor ride to the fields and pick one pie pumpkin and three gourds. The students also got to enjoy the petting zoo and other fun activities on the farm. After the trip we enjoyed some apple cider donuts.
The low incidence department had a fun time conducting a science experiment with pumpkins during their speech language groups. Students combined different items in order to see a volcano foam out of the pumpkin's mouth. Classes enjoyed the activity very much!
In Mrs. Rollins' class, the students were working on a variety of Halloween themed activities in ELA. They have learned about bats and pumpkins. They also worked on Halloween writing prompts through Halloween Day. As a Halloween art activity, they painted wooden cats. Many of the students decided to keep their craft at school.
In science, students learned about different types of energy (e.i heat energy, sound energy and light energy). They also learned the difference between kinetic and potential energy.
In addition, students have celebrated many birthdays in October. The students have enjoyed treats and fun activities to celebrate.
