6th Grade will be exploring Ancient China by looking at the various dynasties, and ancient philosophies, and simulating the Silk Road. After this, we will be learning about Ancient Greece. Lessons will include information about Greek Mythology, different types of government, Alexander the Great, and trade. During both units, students will be exploring various GRAPES factors.
As we enter March, students researching and writing a digital children's book about the impact of groups who participated in the westward movement. From there will be begin moving into the differences between the North and South in the antebellum era.
In 8th Grade Social Studies, we are finishing our World War II Unit and will begin our Cold War Unit. In this unit students will be learning about the tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union and the effect it had on the nation. We will learn about the fear of communism, the Berlin Wall, McCarthyism, the Nuclear Arms Race, and briefly go over the Korean and Vietnam War. At the end of this unit students will be creating a Cold War Brochure on the different topics we discussed as their summative.
