6th Grade Science
Ms. LaGrippe, Mrs, Weinhammer, and Mrs. Zamarripa
March 2025
6th grade science is at the end of our Gravity unit. The students studied how gravity works, affects objects in space and the formation of the Solar System. Ms. LaGrippe’s class will be taking the multiple choice summative on Thursday and the essay summative on Friday. The students have an essay prep document with the questions so they can prepare.
Next up we will learn about the Earth’s Geographical Timeline. They will learn the methods scientists use to date rocks and fossils in order to organize them on the Geologic Time Scale.
7th Grade
Seventh grade is finishing our unit called Types of Cellular Reproduction. We have been learning about how cells copy their genetic information and pass it to offspring. We will be having our summative the second week in March. This will be the cutoff for all missing work as well.
Our next unit will be about DNA structure and function and genetics. We will learn how traits are passed on in a population.
As a reminder, assignments for each unit are due before our summative on that section. Missing work not done before that time will remain a zero in the grade book.

8th Grade
January
Eighth grade students will be using the Science and Engineering Practices to learn about waves and their applications in technology. We will look at a wireless speaker system to figure out the role that mechanical and electromagnetic waves play in how it works. We will examine the relationship between a sound wave's amplitude, frequency, and wavelength and how something sounds. We will also investigate different types of electromagnetic radiation and how it can be helpful or harmful.
