6th Grade ELA

6th graders will be starting to read "The Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan. We will follow Percy Jackson's journey as we learn about Greek Mythology. We'll be focusing on character traits, figurative language, and plot.

7th Grade ELA

During the 3rd Quarter, students read the novel, Freak the Mighty. During this unit, students focused on theme, conflict, plot, and characterization.

We have been working on identifying different types of text structure using informational text. Students have also been working on argumentative writing.

8th Grade ELA

8th-Grade students finished up their Holocaust Book Club Novels. As a summative assessment, students are writing an essay about their novel, analyzing how a particular theme develops.

Students will be finishing the Idiom of the Day Unit for the Quarter very soon! Students will take a summative assessment of all 30 idioms they have learned this Quarter. Quiz your student on other idioms you know!

The 4th Quarter will kick off with the IAR assessments. We will prepare the students at school to be ready for these tests. Please make sure students are getting plenty of rest and a healthy breakfast that week.
