SAIL Funding and Professional Development Opportunities

Integrating Research, Design, and Professional Work into Introductory Courses - 

• Stipends and materials funding available

• Available for departmental groups of faculty working on multi-sectioned introductory courses

• Rolling applications:  Applications must be submitted at least six weeks before the piloting of a course. Applications will be reviewed and receive a decision within ten days. 

  • For Fall 2024 course piloting, the final application deadline is July 15th, 2024.

  • For Spring 2024 course piloting, the final application deadline is December 4th, 2024.

Upper Division Course Innovations for Vertical Integration of Research, Design, and Professional Work in the Curriculum 

• Stipends and materials funding available

• Available for individuals and groups working on integrating research, design, and other professional work into upper division courses

• Rolling applications: Applications must be submitted at least six weeks before the piloting of a course. Applications will be reviewed and receive a decision within ten days. 

  • For Fall 2024 course piloting, the final application deadline is July 15th, 2024.

  • For Spring 2024 course piloting, the final application deadline is December 4th, 2024.

VIP (Vertically Integrated Projects) Courses - ****Coming Soon****

• Stipends and materials funding available

• Available for individuals and groups working on developing hands-on 1 credit courses that engage students over multiple semesters

• Rolling applications

Active Learning Course Innovations

• Stipends available

• Competitively awarded

  • Application deadline for Fall 2024 courses:  May 13th, 2024

  • Application deadline for Spring 2025 courses: October 28th, 2024

Classroom Innovation Partners

• Available to all SCSE Faculty and Staff

• “Experienced” and “novice” partners (2 or more) who share similar interests around a classroom technique
