Classroom Innovation Partners
Classroom Innovation Partners
Do you want to try something new and innovative but don't want to try it alone? Have some expertise and want to improve while mentoring and learning from someone trying the same thing? Want to evaluate your innovation and talk about how well it worked? Classroom Innovation Partners might be a good fit for you.
Choose from the list of innovations below - or write in your own - and we'll create partners with similar interests. No need to have a partner to join, but you're welcome to recruit colleagues to join you.
Looking for ideas of active learning strategies? The University of Minnesota Center for Educational Innovation (CEI) and Iowa State University Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching both have great resources for active learning innovations.
SCSE will provide the support in the form of research literature, consultations, and group meetings. You'll get the benefit of working with fun and innovative colleagues, developing skills in a classroom technique, and learning about how to assess the effectiveness of your work.
Program details are:
Both “experienced” and “novice” partners (2 or more) who share similar interests around a classroom technique (E.g. Flipped classroom, Ungrading, CUREs/VIP, Group formation, etc)
Develop a plan for each classroom (improving the experienced course, initiating the novice course) and an assessment plan. All partners collect data and perform and report the assessment together
Classroom observations using COPUS will be provided by the SAIL program.
Must be implementing in the same semester and have planning time together
