Lauren Goracy is beginning her 11th year in education at CVSD. She is excited to be the new Assistant Principal and CCS Special Services Director! Teaching and leading has always been a passion of hers; she comes from a family full of teachers and leaders. She believes in the potential of all students and values strong relationships in order to help students succeed. Lauren graduated from the University of Vermont in 2012 with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. She continued her education at UVM and completed the graduate program in Special Education. She currently holds degrees in both Elementary Education K-6 and Special Education K-12. She is in the process of completing her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study Program for the title and certification of Director of Special Education at Saint Michael’s College.
Lauren grew up in Lebanon Township, New Jersey, a rural area landscaped with forests and farms. Field Hockey is what brought her to the state of Vermont. She played on the varsity team at UVM and fell in love with this beautiful state. Lauren currently lives in Richmond, Vermont, on a dirt road near a beaver pond. She loves nature and enjoys being outside in her backyard. She also enjoys snowboarding, hiking, reading, snowshoeing, bird watching, yoga, and playing/coaching field hockey. She believes that everyone can be a lifelong learner and it is her goal in life to continue to be curious about the world, explore new things and encourage that in others.
I am the Administrative Assistant for Student Support Services. I started at CCS way back in 1995. Time flies when you’re having fun! I reside in Vergennes with my husband of 20 years. I am the proud mother of three boys (okay… they’re now men) and grandmother to the most adorable little boy and girl who light up our world! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cooking, boating and traveling to warm places.
I am thrilled to be joining the Charlotte Central School team as a half-time Speech/Language Pathologist this year! I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont in the spring of 2014, and spent several years gaining real-world experience by working with people in both healthcare and school-based settings. I recently received my M.S. in Communication Sciences & Disorders from the University of Vermont, where my passion for helping others (particularly children) successfully communicate was greatly deepened. I look forward to getting to know the CCS community over the next school year!
I live in downtown Burlington with my best friend and new puppy, and I can sometimes be found working behind the bar at Foam Brewers near the Burlington waterfront. On my off days, I love to hike and camp, swim in Vermont’s many rivers, cook, and see live music.
I am the speech-language pathologist for grades K-5 at CCS. I received my M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Vermont in 2016. I work with students on speech articulation, listening comprehension, oral expression, fluency, and social communication, 1:1, in small groups, and in the classroom. One of my favorite things about being an SLP in elementary school is that I learn so much from the students!
My role is to help identify where students may have difficulty in areas related to speech or language and give them the support they need to improve their skills. I live in Burlington with my son and daughter, who are mostly patient about letting me borrow their games and art supplies!
I am the 8th-grade special educator this year at Charlotte Central School. This will be my 7th year at CCS! I graduated from UVM with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, as well as, more recently, my Master's degree in Special Education. When I’m not at school you can find me hiking, camping, playing basketball, rock climbing, or snowboarding. I love spending my time outside and enjoying all that Vermont has to offer!
I have been a special educator for 6th grade at Charlotte Central School since 2011. Prior to that I taught 9th and 10th grade at Trumbull High School in Trumbull, CT and 5th and 6th grade at Bedford Middle School in Westport, CT. I am happy to be back in Vermont. I love being a special educator and am thankful for all the amazing students and families I have met over the years. I enjoy being part of students’ middle school experience and being part of their transition to high school. I have two daughters and we love to boat on Lake Champlain in the summer and try to ski as much as we can in the winter. I also have a very special labradoodle named Sweetie.
I am a Special Educator for the 3rd and 4th grades at Charlotte Central School. I grew up in Shelburne and love this area of Vermont. I enjoy doing anything outside, running, biking, skiing, and playing soccer. I attended Endicott College for three years before transferring and finishing my degree at the University of Vermont. I also received my Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Vermont. I live with my wife and have two kids and two dogs.
I am a special educator for the 5th grade Alpha Team at Charlotte Central School. This is my second year working for the Champlain Valley School District and I am very excited to start this new journey. Prior to coming to the CVSD I worked in the Burlington School District for the past 14 years, 13 of those years working at Hunt Middle School. I currently hold endorsements as a special educator ages K-21 as well as a K-6 elementary educator. Both my Bachelor’s and Graduate degrees come from Saint Michael’s College. Teaching and working with children has always been something that I knew I wanted to do since I was a little girl. In the beginning I thought being a classroom teacher was my dream but after an opportunity to work in the field of special education I realized that becoming a special educator was my calling. My favorite part of my job is the relationships that I form with my students and families. I live in Williston with my husband, two children, an old lady cat named Chloe and a goofy goldendoodle named Oakley. In my free time I love doing home improvement projects and interior design. I also love to cook, do a little yoga, run and just be outside!
I am so excited to be joining the Charlotte Central School community as the new K-2 Special Educator! I have been working in the field of Special Education for over four years. Prior to coming to Charlotte, I worked as the Kindergarten and First grade Special Educator at Sheldon Elementary School. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from UVM and am dually licensed in both General Education and Special Education for children grades kindergarten through sixth grade. I am also currently enrolled in the Special Education Masters program at UVM, expecting to graduate this upcoming May! One of the things that I love most about being a Special Educator is that each day brings new experiences and challenges, forcing me to step out of my comfort zone and constantly brainstorm new methods.
I live in South Burlington with my partner and our crazy cat, Wasabi. During my free time I enjoy paddle boarding, reading, hiking, practicing yoga, skiing, cooking and baking.
