  • Student Support Programs - these include programs for different groups of students, such as low income, first-generation, ethnicity groups, or students with disabilities

  • Counseling Center

  • Tutoring Center and/or Writing Center

Steps to Enroll

1. Apply online through CCC Apply. It is best to go to the college's website and click on their link to Apply. See below for links to local colleges.

2. Set up your college account (Class Web or other).

3. Set up your school email (Zonemail or other).

4. Complete Online Orientation.

5. Complete Special Programs applications or interest form (if applicable).

6. Complete Math & English placement questionnaires.

7. Create a student education plan with a counselor.

8. Register and pay for classes.

Learning Communities

These provide classes for the first semester that focus on particular career pathways and transfer.

First Year Experience: FYE provides pathway specific classes that lead towards transfer with additional support, peer advisers who have been through that pathway and students get to take their classes with other new, first time college students.

Puente: An Academic College Prep Community - The Chabot College Puente Project is a two semester, accelerated writing, counseling and mentoring program with a curriculum that focuses on Mexican American/Latino history, authors and issues. It is designed for students who want to transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

Umoja: The Umoja Community is a statewide program to help students graduate and/or transfer to four-year colleges and universities. This program addresses students’ needs through academic support services and curriculum focused on African American history, literature, and culture.

Support for first generation, low income, parenting,foster youth, etc. Students can be in more than one program depending on eligibility.

CalWorks (low income students with children who qualify for CalWorks)

DSPS (for students who may need accommodations or other support; typically students who had a 504 plan or IEP in high school).

EOPS (low income, educationally disadvantaged students- flyer includes application info)

Guardian Scholars Program (for current or former foster youth)

TRIO (Aspire and Exel Programs for low income, first generation students)

MESA TRIO- low income, first generation students in STEM majors

DVC Highlights: Counselors and Learning Communities

Day/Time: Wednesday, 11/17 @ 5pm

Description: A panel of our academic counselors will discuss academic counseling and transfer pathways. Several of the counselors are also involved with, and will share about, our learning communities such as First Year Experience (FYE), MESA, Puente and Umoja. We will also have James Wilson, English Professor, who is the coordinator of Community of Pride.
