The Canadian Unitarian Council's Inclusivity Forums were presented in 2022, and covered different types of inclusion to provide opportunities to live into the 8th Principle.
Purpose of the Forums:
Becoming more conscious of privilege, power, and biases;
Noticing our own discomfort that arises when our beliefs, opinions, biases, etc. are challenged, and our response to it;
Strategizing around how to shift our UU culture to be more inclusive and aware.
Forum Basics
Before each forum participants received a package like this with materials to review before the forum. Please do not share the links as we trying to increase confidentiality for people who have participated in interviews.
Each forum started with some learning together and Q & A's, followed by discussion in small groups which were facilitated using the Responsibility Covenant. To learn more about this check out the guide.
Conversations were held about how to shift our UU culture toward more inclusivity. For more on this see the Culture Shift tool in the Extra Resources section of this site.
Each forum provided caucus space for people with lived experience who chose to connect with one another during and/or after the forum.
Each forum was 2 hours.
