Entrepreneurship Development Cell & Institution's Innovation Council

Centre for Student Development (CFSD) encompassing Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and Ministry of Education’s Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of the College was formed to promote initiativeness and leadership qualities among students. It encourages the students to organize activities for development of their social and entrepreneurial life coping skills. It aims at providing student-centered holistic experience for their personality development. The activities of EDC and IIC are conducted with a broader perspective under the aegis of CFSD.

About Us

Entrepreneurship Development Cell intends to motivate the students to view entrepreneurship as a desirable career option in the early years after graduation. ED Cell also aims at capacity building and creation of self-employment opportunities for the CTTEans.

VISION:

To promote entrepreneurial skills among CTTE students and create self-employment opportunities for them.

OBJECTIVES:

  • To develop personal attributes and skills that form the basis of entrepreneurial mind set and behavior (creativity, risk-taking, self-confidence, team spirit, sense of initiative etc.)

  • To promote entrepreneurial skills among CTTE students and create self-employment opportunities for them

  • To educate enterprising students on the essentials of starting a business

  • To provide an exhaustive resource pool to aid potential student entrepreneurs

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell was started with a grant of Rs. 1,00,000 by the Government of Tamil Nadu. A congenial ecosystem for the evolution of entrepreneurs is established in the campus through the Incubation Centre of the ED Cell. It provides financial assistance, arranges interaction with successful entrepreneurs and creates opportunities for capacity building.

The ED Cell conducts numerous short term certificate courses to enhance the skills of students. Students must complete at least one course before the completion of their UG degree in keeping with the 'Skill India' policy of the Government of India.

Students are encouraged to earn while they learn by engaging themselves in micro ventures and are trained to become job providers in the future. A campus retail store 'Stubazaar' is run by our students. Start up ventures in jute products and bakery products are carried out successfully by these stupreneurs.

The ED Cell also runs an Aavin Parlor as a franchise of Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers Federation Ltd. to give training to students on how to run a business enterprise.

  • Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) conducted by NSIC, KVIC, EDI.

  • Certificate courses in Bakery Products making, Fruits and Vegetables processing, imitation jewellery by KVIC faculty.

  • Certificate courses in Embroidery, Fabric Painting, Calligraphy, Terracotta & Permanent Clay jewellery by Fevicryll Industry trained faculty.

  • Aavin Parlor run by students in the College campus.


Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)

About Us

Chevalier T Thomas Elizabeth College for Women announced the establishment of Idea & Innovation Lab at its campus in Chennai.

The objective is to nurture and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship among college students and to serve as a platform enabling students to envision, create, experiment and implement their ideas.

There have been a plethora of ideas from the student community in our college and it is vital to harvest and transcend them from the blackboard to a working prototype.

  • To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem

  • Start-up/ entrepreneurship supporting Mechanism

  • Prepare Institute for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements Framework (ARIIA)

  • Establish Function Ecosystem for Scouting Ideas and Pre-incubation of Ideas

  • Develop better Cognitive Ability among the Students


Functions of Institution’s Innovation Council


  • Promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campus

  • To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bounded fashion.

  • Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.

  • Organize periodic workshops / seminars / interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.

  • Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.

  • Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students.

  • Organize Hackathons, idea competition, mini-challenges, etc. with the involvement of industries.
