Odor Test

Below are the results of the Odor Test. We used 20 people with no knowledge of what they are doing and asked them to sniff 4 fabrics. The fabrics covered a cup with vinegar, tuna, or nothing in it. A rubber band was used to seal the scent. They gave the scent a 0-4. 0 being no smell and 4 being extremely strong.

These are the data tables for each inserted scent: (Tuna below, Vinegar right, and No Scent bottom right)

Blue = ProSoft Fabric

Red = Nylon RipStop (Grey)

Yellow = Jersey Knit

Green = Nylon RipStop (Blue)

Based off of the data shown above, the Pro Soft showed the most smell repellent. The Rip Stop fabrics were also somewhat successful at thwarting odor. The Jersey Knit fabric was not successful at stopping the transmission of scent.

Below are the data tables for the Odor Test.

Here are some pictures;

Ethan writes about the contents of the cup on the bottom of it so the data can be recorded under the right smell.

The fabric is cut wider then the opening of the cup, then a rubber band is placed tightly around the cup to stop any leak of scent.

Ryan cuts out a sample from each fabric that wasn't eliminated by the wash test.

A 6th grade student sniffs each cup and gives the rating to a waiting team member.
