Friday May 31st 2019- This week we've been in a rush to get everything spot on for expo fest tomorrow. Half our class has been staying after class to finish up the final prototype, edit the website, and run through the big pitch. We've gotten so much done this week even after hitting a few snags with our t-shirts and hats. All of us are really proud of the project that we've made and I think that we got everything on the judges rubric. Bring it on expo fest!
Friday May 24 2019- This week has been one hectic week. On Monday, we submitted all of our work on track pad and we're still working hard to finish the prototype. On Tuesday, we worked on getting our out of school mentor, which turned out to be Rachael's aunt! Wednesday was just editing the website while the science team worked on making one last podcast for the project. Also, the prototyping team is getting closer and closer to the final product with the attach system and everything! All in all, this week has been crazy and fun, but I hope that it is worth it when we get to expo fest!
Friday May 17th 2019-This week we really got down with editing the website and adding all of our data and research. Last week, we didn't get much done because that was the week when all the 8th graders were at Washington D.C. This week however, we are cracking down on all of our mistakes and getting all the editing done to be ready for May 20th. The communications team finished editing the commercial and added on all the credits as well. We are also uploading that to Instagram to update our social media. The science team has switched priorities to website reorganization and editing to make sure its ready for Launchpad. The research team has also been helping with this by adding in all of our data. They've also been working on making info graphs for the website as well. This has been a stressful week but we're glad that we got everything that we needed to do done.
Friday May 3rd 2019-This week the science team was hard at work finishing up the second bacteria test and working on making our section of the website included pictures and conclusions. On the communications team, this week we worked on shooting the commercial again because it was somehow deleted off of the tablet. We have finished filming however but we'll work on editing it. The prototyping team has the final fabric and they are working on making the final prototype out of it. Research team also worked hard this week with adding citations, comp. analysis, data, and other important parts in the project. To conclude, this week was a bit of a wrapping up week to start getting ready for when Launchpad is due.
Friday April 26th 2019- This week, the communications team finished the commercial and we just need to figure out how to add it to google drive. The science team worked hard this week as well, and they have all the data for the bacteria tests and are working on inserting it into the website.
Friday April 12th 2019- This week was a huge week for our capstone team, our De-Scent It commercial was a success and just needs to be edited, the science team also conducted the odor test and have all the data needed to be put into the website. A lot of research was also conducted on bacteria this week so that the bacteria test will be a success. Overall, this week was a major week for capstone team and we hope the next week is just as successful.
Friday April 5th 2019- This week was one of out best weeks yet. All together we got a lot of work done. The communications team posted on the Instagram page and also the Twitter page. They made a schedule for when each team has to make either an Instagram post, or a Twitter post. This week was really good and we hope that next week is the same.
Friday March 29th 2019- This week we got a lot done. The communications team opened an Instagram page. They made a poster for what makes a good instagram post. The science team took pictures of the fabric sample measurements. One of the teams started to design shirts that we can wear on the day of expofest, and they are choosing different designs. We have 21 more school days until expo and we still have a lot of work to do.
Friday March 22 2019- This week was pretty productive. We did our final logo vote, and we voted on one. Someone in the logo team just has to make some final edits to it, and then we can add it to our website. We began looking at a rubric and seeing what we have done, and what needs to be. This week went really well. As long as we keep having weeks like this, we will be good.
Friday March 15th 2019- This week we had our trip to IBM in Southbury on Thursday, March 14th. We presented “De-Scent It” to judges that were also IBM employees. They seemed to like our idea of the bag insert. After lunch, we split up into our breakout groups to learn more about how expo fest works, and how we can do better and impress the judges. We were one of two middle school teams. So we were mostly with students older than us. We learned that the deadline for launchpad is May 20th. We still have a lot of work to do, but I think we can do it.
