OED Database Optimization

The Open Energy Dashboard has been working on a significant enhancement to allow for conversions of usage that vary with time. The current project aims to optimize the needed database views to significantly improve the time needed in their creation, provide testing and possibly other DB enhancements. "This project will allow students to engage with moderately advanced, real-world DB work that builds upon what you likely learned in your classes. The optimization of the DB views and testing is in an OED design document in the January 2026 DB Update section. If time permits, the team can also work to extend and implement ideas to optimize the PostgreSQL parameters, officially include PosatgreSQL trust fix for DB access and do test code for the new feature. Note several CSUMB teams have successfully worked in this area in the past.
