Dear colleagues, students, and friends,
I’m excited to present our 2023-24 Annual Report to you in an online format this year. We switched to a web-based report to provide an eco-friendly, cost-effective platform. The new format offers interactive content, including image carousels and videos, showcasing our work from the past year—features that a printed report simply cannot deliver.
A major achievement this year was the adoption of our updated 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, which is pivotal to our success in developing our Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER) for AACSB accreditation. We also achieved a milestone in our accreditation journey on Monday, February 26th, with the AACSB Mock Visit–a practice run of the future AACSB Peer Review Team visit. You can read more about it in the AACSB Update section of this report.
We also celebrated the launch of the Pebble Beach Company Scholars Program. This is the first of many Scholars Programs here at CSUMB. Hats off to Paige Viren, who built on the foundation that John Avella started with Pebble Beach Company. This Scholar's Program is designed to be a magnet to draw talented students to the Sustainable Hospitality Management Program in the College of Business.
Finally, I am pleased to recognize Kathryn "Kate" Shepherd, our Dean’s Medalist, for her exceptional leadership and commitment to the campus community. As Vice President of the Sustainable Hospitality Management Club, Kate organized off-campus events and created valuable networking opportunities in the hospitality industry. She also co-founded the Eta Sigma Delta Honor Society, fostering academic excellence within the hospitality program. Kate's active participation in various roles has honed her leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, which will undoubtedly benefit her future career in the hospitality industry. Graduating Summa Cum Laude in Sustainable Hospitality Management, we eagerly anticipate her future successes.
I invite you to browse through our new online Annual Report to read about the year’s achievements in the areas of student success, community engagement, societal impact, and more.
Warm Regards,
