Andrew Lawson, Provost
I am pleased to report that the College of Business achieved a milestone in its accreditation journey on Monday, February 26th, with the AACSB Mock Visit. AACSB accreditation consultants, Dr. Joseph DiAngelo, Dean, and Dr. Vana Zervanos, Associate Dean of the Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA, provided a taste of what the actual Peer Review Team (PRT) visit would be like during the all-day visit. Read more about this significant landmark on the path to accreditation below.
Dr. DiAngelo and Dr. Zervanos listened to presentations and asked lots of questions in a series of meetings with faculty and staff representatives from all College of Business academic and co-curricular programs, as well as our two governing committees, the Committee on Curriculum & Assurance of Learning (C2AoL) and the Strategic Planning & Accreditation Committee (SPAC). They probed into the 200-page draft of the College’s Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER) to help identify strengths and weaknesses with regard to alignment with AACSB Accreditation Standards.
The positive feedback from the consultants was encouraging. So much progress has been made since beginning this journey, and I wish to thank the College of Business faculty and staff who have worked tirelessly to get to this point. I also want to acknowledge CSUMB President Vanya Quiñones, Associate Provost & Dean of Research and Graduate Studies Cindy Juntunen, and Associate Provost for Academic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness Dale Grubb for engaging with the AASCB consultants during the visit. The support of our campus administration is essential to achieving AACSB accreditation.
As we celebrate this milestone, we recognize there is still work to do. The next step is to take the feedback and guidance received during the Mock Visit and incorporate it into the final version of the Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER), which is slated to be submitted to AACSB by the end of this calendar year.
