Science is an exciting opportunity for students to learn about how the world works! We use the Next Generation Science Standards, NGSS, to guide our teaching and have moved away from memorization of science concepts and the old school scientific method and into observing phenomena and asking, "What happened and why did it happen?" By practicing how to observe, ask questions, model what happened, argue with evidence, collect data, construct an explanation and share our learning with others, we are acting like real scientists. That learning is not always linear. Because figuring stuff out, without the teacher telling you the reasons why something is happening, is MESSY.
Our units this year include: Energy, Ecology and Us; Force and Motion; Earth, Moon and Sun; Properties of Matter; Energy.
