In lieu of a final exam, this course will have a Final Project.
Objective:
The objective of this assignment is for students to apply their knowledge of design, technology, and communications by creating a brand from scratch. Students will work in groups of two or three, or individually to develop a brand identity, design a logo using Illustrator, create a website interface using Thunkable and short commercial in Premiere Pro. Additionally, students will create a planner to outline their project & brand concept.
Assignment Details:
Group Formation:
• Students will form groups. If a student chooses to work alone, they are only required to make 2 screens rather than 4, the commercial the commercial is expected to be 20 seconds (45 seconds if working in a group).
Brand Concept:
• Each group or individual will develop a unique brand concept, including defining the brand's goal, target audience, and the industry they wish to operate in.
Logo Design (Illustrator):
• Using Adobe Illustrator, students will design a logo for their brand. The logo should reflect the brand's identity, values, and target audience. It should be scalable, recognizable, and visually appealing.
Website Interface Design (Thunkable):
• Students will create a conceptual website interface using Thunkable. While no full functionality is required, the interface should be user-friendly, intuitive, and visually consistent with the brand's identity.
Mandatory Pages:
• Landing Page: The Landing Page is the main entry point of the website, designed to capture user attention with an overview of the brand's offerings and clear navigation to other sections.
• About Us Page: The About Us Page provides detailed information about the brand's story, mission, team, and core values, helping users connect with the brand on a personal level.
Additional Pages:
• Students must create two other pages related to their chosen industry (e.g., Shopping Page, Stats Page). One of these pages can optionally include a video.
Video Commercial:
• The commercial that your group produces should showcase your brand in some capacity. Use it as an opportunity to advertise your services, products, etc. Some things to consider:

Clear Message: The viewer immediately knows what’s being advertised.
Strong Hook: Captures attention in the first few seconds.
Emotional or Relatable: Connects with viewers through humor, inspiration, or empathy.
Memorable: Uses a catchy slogan, jingle, or visual style.
Targeted: Speaks directly to the intended audience’s needs or desires.
Call to Action: Encourages the viewer to buy, try, or learn more.
Planner:
• Each group or individual will create a detailed planner outlining their brand description, responsibilities, and a screen breakdown of their app.
Submission Guidelines
Submission Requirements:
Logo Design (Illustrator):
• Submit the final logo design as a PNG or JPG.
Website Interface Design (Thunkable):
• Submit screenshots or mockups of the website interface along with a description of its features and how it aligns with the brand.
• Mandatory pages must include the Landing Page and About Us Page, plus two additional pages relevant to the industry.
• Final completed website link must be provided in the planner.
Video Commercial
Must be done in premiere pro
Video should be 15 Seconds if working alone, or 45 seconds if working in a group
The Commercial Planner must be completed, with a detailed shot list and script.
Planner:
• Submit the completed project planners, outlining the project timeline, brand description, and a rundown of who will be working on what. Include a screen breakdown and shot breakdown. It is important to also include the commercial planner.
Suggested Timeline
Brainstorming + Completing planner + installing required software - 1 class
Creating a logo - 1 class
Website creation (putting in a skeleton outline of each page)- 1 class
Designing parts of each webpage & making the branding cohesive throughout - 1 class
Finish your website design (finishing touches) and completing anything missing in the planner - 1 class

• You are encouraged to research existing brands for inspiration but emphasize the importance of originality and creativity.
