Memorial Day
This is an INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT event. We often have students make alternate plans which prevent them from being at this event. We generally have 50% or less of the band participate in this event, we have even had instances when entire sections have been missing, severely impacting the band's ability to adequately perform. After this event we often receive questions and comments like "what is wrong with Crestview's band?" "Whats going on with the band at Crestview" and "Why is Crestview's Band so small?" These questions and comments show that we have not represented ourselves to our fullest ability.
Students report to the school at 8:30 AM for this day of events.
The Columbiana Memorial Day Parade route begins on South Main St. and ends at the Columbiana Cemetery. This parade typically begins between 10:00 AM and ends at 10:30 AM. We then have water as we wait for the ceremony to begin.
The Columbiana Memorial Day Ceremony begins shortly after the parade in the Cemetery.
After the Columbiana Memorial Day Ceremony we depart for the New Waterford Cemetery.
We will then perform at the New Waterford Memorial Day Ceremony. There is no parade with this event.
We typically return to Crestview High School around 12:30 PM
Often, there is a swim party that afternoon for the band.
