Dear Families of The Creighton Academy,
Welcome to The Creighton Academy! Over the past year, we have worked hard, as a team, to develop an excellent educational experience for your children. We often say that we are unlike any school in the Valley and we hope that you feel that upon becoming part of our school family.
We know that you have options when it comes to your child's education and we're do glad you chose us. Together we aim to provide your children with learning opportunities that we help them become advocates for themselves and leaders in doing what is best for the world.
In order to do this great work, we use a combination of, what we like to call, loose and tight systems. Our tight systems include the use of some of the components of the PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) in the use common school wide expectations, which are:
We Take Care of Ourselves
We Take Care of Eachother
We Take Care of our School
We Take Care of our World
Additionally we use common language around Voice Levels, and Levels of Autonomy which are described in greater detail on pages that follow this one. It is with these tight systems that we allow for a looser learning environment where we work to teach children to have a voice over the pace, place and process in which they learn.
Educational success of children is a team effort and it is vital we all work together to ensure that each child at The Creighton Academy reaches their potential. We believe it is everyone’s responsibility to work collaboratively to empower our children with the creative, intellectual and decision-making skills necessary for them to become adventurous learners, kind hearted leaders and collaborative learners.
With that in mind, you are invited to be an active participant at The Creighton Academy. Whether you are a classroom volunteer, involved in our PTO, or part of one of our special event committees, you are encouraged and we need you to be involved! Research on schools clearly demonstrates that parent participation in their child’s school coincides with a greater likelihood of academic success for their child. Your involvement and participation in our school makes a difference! Look for opportunities to attend parent-child activities, volunteer in the classrooms, support school fundraisers and plan to be an active member of our PTO. Each family enrolled at The Creighton Academy commits to complete a minimum of 20 volunteer hours each school year.
This year is going to be amazing as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant and help them build relationships while making real-world connections. We are excited to continue the academic and language growth of our students as we foster student leaders who persevere and achieve their personal best at TCA.
Respectfully yours,
Katie Cartier
