Eating a healthy breakfast is a great way to prepare for a full day of learning. Fortunately, the Creighton School District is able to provide breakfast for all of our students at no cost. Eating at school is optional however it is important that children always eat breakfast. Breakfast consists of 4 different items, usually, a milk, juice, cereal and an additional item. We ask students eating breakfast at school to take a minimum of 3 items.
At TCA, breakfast is served in the learning environments, beginning at 7:25, with the first bell. Our teachers, use this designated breakfast time for taking attendance, turning in homework, classroom meetings and warm-up/practice activities. Breakfast in the classroom is considered instructional time. Even if your child is not eating breakfast, please ensure your child is at school by 7:30 to start their day right by participating in the important beginning of the day activities.
Students may choose to bring their lunch to school or eat a cafeteria school lunch. At TCA, lunch is provided at no cost for all students regardless of family income and we encourage our students to eat lunch provided by the cafeteria. School breakfast/lunch menus can be viewed online or download Titan Family Connect app.
In addition to school provided lunch or lunch brought from home, a la carte items are provided for purchase. A la carte items range from additional entrees, snack items and drinks. All al a carte items continue to meet the federal and state nutritional guidelines. Money for al a carte items can be added to your child’s account through the Titan system. All students are assigned a school ID # that they will need to memorize and enter the five-digit ID# on a keypad when they eat lunch provided by the school cafeteria. Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade will take ID “Cards” with them to the cafeteria to aid in the process of entering their ID number in the keypad. Teachers may also send a photocopy of a keypad home with your child to help them practice entering their ID number on a keypad.
Snack: All grade levels have an additional snack time built into the schedule and we encourage our families to send healthy snacks for students to eat during this time. Please do not send sugary food, soda or sports drinks with students.
