Goal: Engage productively in self-directed learning, independently, and/or collaboratively
Architecture Final Project
Goal of the Assignment: To use our knowledge of Revit and the design process of a house to build our own "Dream Home" which met the design parameters.
I chose a modern design style which all the essentials of a house, while being able to host guest yet still having a decent garage and kitchen space remaining withing the 2,000 square feet maximum footprint.
How it Fits the Learning Target:
Engage Productively
We were given about 2 weeks to work on this project from start to finish
We were not given direct checkpoints and were required to create our own timeline to ensure the house was designed within the allotted time
It was up to us to hold ourselves accountable to meeting out timeline as we were not monitored daily on our progress
Self-Directed Learning
The windows which match the rood pitch were a very difficult concept to learn
We had not been taught it in class
The teacher when asked was not sure how to make them either
I had to browse Revit's help articles as well as play around with the program for a couple class periods before I was able to figure it out
Calc Mid-Term
Goal of the Assignment: Take the UConn Math 1131 Final which was the same final the students in UConn's calc-1 class would take
I knew I needed to do well on this exam in order to receive ECE credit for the class, as our UConn transcript grade could no more than one letter above our exam grade
How it Fits the Learning Target:
Engage Productively
I knew I needed to focus for all 8 Calculus classes a week which would be 2 back-to-back classes a day
This was the longest and most difficult class I had ever taken
Self-Directed Learning
Simply paying attention in class was not enough
You had to be able to absorb the topics and then be able to apply them to the classwork and homework assignments (which could take upwards of 1-2 hours
I spent incredible amounts of time studying for this exam by going back through previous test and study guide problems
Resulted in receiving a 99% on the exam, which I was told was the best score my teacher had seen on in her years teaching the class
