The Cross Country team wrapped up an outstanding season filled with determination, teamwork, and perseverance. Throughout the tough season of training and competing, the runners showed incredible growth and commitment. Christopher Gaulrapp and George Tsivikas achieved personal bests and earned strong finishes at the County Finals. Special thanks to Coach Cantwell, who dedicated much of his time to emotional support and being understanding of inevitable situations regarding physical health issues. As the season closes, the team celebrates not just their results, but the friendships and resilience built along the way.

The varsity Cross country team has grown immensely this past season, with there being many first-year runners and underclassmen joining. Headed by coach John Cantwell, the team has brought in many freshmen as well as seen improvement in returning runners. The team has also adapted well to the introduction of a new course at LIU Post, which has replaced the one at Bethpage State Park for the season, due to Bethpage State Park being the venue of the Rider Cup Golf tournament. Though they are not sending as many people to the counties as in previous years due to it being a young team, the hope is that the number will increase within the next season or two. Thomas Monteforte, one of two team captains on varsity cross country, gave a few words about the team. According to him, the biggest achievement as a team this year was the influx of lower-classmen and the enthusiasm they brought for the sport. When asked about the importance of being on a team, he stated that a team helps form discipline and helps you discover your physical limitations. He further adds, “I believe every young person should be part of a team”.
