After weeks of endless preparation, painting of banners, decade-long debates, and endless discussions, wondering how the week would unfold, September 22nd kicked off the start of an unforgettable Homecoming 2025.
On September 22nd, students district-wide brought their cowboy hats and boots to the start of an eventful spirit week on a Howdy Monday. Students came back even more excited after a 2-day break from school on an Aloha Thursday, bringing out the tropical vibes and leis. Carle Place students and faculty showed up on Friday wearing their green and white, walking through hallways that were decorated by student volunteers and class officers. Students were ready and hyped for the pep rally at the end of the school day and the football game against Lawrence under the lights at 7:15pm.
Pep rally on Friday started with a warm welcome and singing of the national anthem from Carolina Viegas, Student Organization President. The Pep rally offered the fun and spirited skits of each grade level as usual. This year, the Carle Place Middle School found itself participating rather than watching. With their theme being Texas, they embraced the country fun through both country songs and dances. The Freshman created a Florida-themed skit, including funny characters like Mickey Mouse, which gave everyone a good laugh. Then, the Sophomore skit gave off a tropical vibe as Stitch played away on his ukulele. The Juniors made sure to show off their talents through their cool choreography and upbeat music in a California-themed skit. The Seniors decided to create an entertaining, creative, and memorable skit for their theme of New York, featuring basketball players, the Statue of Liberty, and other fun and iconic NYC moments.
Homecoming court for each grade level was also announced by Dr. Kelly during the Pep Rally after students voted for the nominees. The winners were as follows:
Freshman: Emma Barros and Brady Lemanczyk
Sophomores: Kyara Perea and Nicky Abbatellio
Juniors: Sofia Henglein and Logan Stewart
The pep rally was also filled with other fun activities, like a sibling two-legged race and a students vs. teachers soccer game. Other fall sport teams were also represented alongside the football team, pushing the momentum towards the football team in defending the pond against Lawrence later on that night.
At 7:15 p.m., students arrived and did not disappoint. Students dressed up in red, white, and blue for a USA theme and supported the varsity football team under the lights. The pep band and the varsity cheerleaders kept the energy high throughout the game. Food, snacks, and drinks were also sold by class advisors, officers, and student volunteers to raise money for each individual grade level.
During halftime, the varsity cheerleaders performed an outstanding routine, and students re-performed their United States-themed skits from the pep rally. Homecoming king and queen were finally crowned later on that night, the homecoming king being Vincenzo Pisani and the homecoming queen being Grace Esposito. The night then ended on a high note with a victory of 48-0 against Lawrence.
The week concluded with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 27th. Saturday morning, class officers set up their themed walls within the gym. Students entered the gym doors later on that night, ready to dance the night away and make memories that will last a lifetime with their friends.
The night concluded with Dr. Kelly announcing the overall winners of all of the homecoming festivities. The Seniors came in 1st with their New York City theme, followed by the Sophomore luau and their Hawaiian theme in 2nd place - a remarkably unexpected occurrence. The Juniors followed in 3rd with their red carpet straight out of Los Angeles, California, and the Freshman with their Florida fun came after.
