How do I apply for financial aid for college?

You will need the following documents:

To complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), you will need:

  • Your Social Security Number

  • Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)

  • Your federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned. (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)

  • Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)

  • Records of untaxed income (if applicable)

  • An FSA ID to sign electronically.

When should I apply?

In order to receive the highest amount of aid, you should submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible as of October 1st of the year before you will be attending college. This is because most colleges award some kinds of aid on a first-come, first-served basis.

What if I don’t think a 4 year college is right for me?

Trade schools, apprenticeships, and vocational options are affordable options and opportunities. Please refer to the "Enrollment" tab on the main page

I need some extra help and have had services or plans on a 504 or an IEP, Are there options to help me after high school?

Schools, Universities, and Trade/Vocational schools operate in conjunction with the American Disabilities Act which afford individuals accommodations for documented needs. Please refer to your programs Office of Student Services for further assistance. Also feel free to contact your student's high school for guidance and assistance.

Are there state and city agencies that can support my student with employment or summer programs?
