What is a STABLE Account?

A STABLE Act account is a money account for people with disabilities. Tax free cash contributions can be added to this account up to $14,000 per year as long as distributions are made for “qualified disability expenses. Qualified Expenses are:

  • Housing

  • Transportation

  • Basic Living Expenses

  • Education

  • Assistive Technology

  • Legal Fees

  • Health and Wellness

  • Financial Management


Eligibility for a STABLE Account:

  • An “Eligible Individual” is someone who developed their disability before the age of 26.

    • The individual must have been living with their disability for at least one year

  • In addition, the individual must meet at least one of the following criteria:

    • Be entitled to Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

    • Be entitled to Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)


Have a condition listed on the Social Security Administration’s List of Compassionate Allowances Conditions

Ticket To Work Program

Social Security's Ticket to Work Program supports career development for Social Security disability beneficiaries age 18 through 64 who want to work. The Ticket Program is free and voluntary. The Ticket Program helps people with disabilities progress toward financial independence. Individuals who receive Social Security benefits because of a disability and are age 18 through 64 probably already qualify for the program.

Employment and Social Security: Work Incentives Planning and Assistance

The Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999 authorized Social Security to award grants, contracts or cooperative agreements to provide community-based Work Incentives expertise to beneficiaries of Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits based on disability. We currently have 82 cooperative agreements throughout every state, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

Transportation

Metro ACCESS

Access is a shared-ride public transportation service in a small bus for people whose

disabilities prevent them from riding Metro buses. You must apply and be approved

which can take up to 3 weeks. Please call 513-632-7590 for more information.

Metro and Travel Training

  • Fare Deal-Many individuals with disabilities are eligible for a Fare Deal card to ride Metro. This

Means they pay half-price for each Metro trip. Eligible participants include ACCESS card

Holders, riders with disabilities and Medicare card holders

  • Travel training is free, personalized, one-on-one instruction for Access customers who want to learn to ride Metro buses. For ore information, please call 513-632-7587
