Pennsylvania has a lot of diverse topography, including rolling hills, fertile valleys, and forests. Since Philadelphia was located on the Delaware River it is the largest city in Pennsylvania. It also meant that it was a big hub for trading and commerce. Pennsylvania had large, forested areas that covered a lot of Pennsylvania. Timber was an abundant source there. The forest also provided an area where game was accessible, contributing to the fur trade they had there.
Thomas Penn was involved in a lot of land policies and decisions that were up to him on how the geography of the colony was shaped. Thomas Penn was also in charge of land deals with the Native Americans where he expanded the landmass of Pennsylvania.
