The economy here is primarily based on agriculture and trade. The fertile soil here was ideal for growing crops such as wheat, corn, and other grains. Farmers here grew lots of these crops and eventually had a surplus of them, which they sold mainly to the New England colonies for extra money. Farmers also raised livestock such as cattle, swine, sheep, and horses. We have two major rivers named the Delaware and Susquehanna, which facilitated trade. Philadelphia, the largest city in Pennsylvania, was located on the edge of the Delaware River, which later developed into a port city, attracting many craftsmen and artisans. The urban area's here are bustling with activities such as blacksmithing, carpentry, and textile production. Benjamin Franklin helped Pennsylvania's economy by promoting trade, industry, and infrastructure development. He started the earliest fire insurance company in America. This fire insurance company contributed to the city's economic stability and growth.
