To the Class of 2022:

Although it might sound cliche, we have been through quite an emotional rollercoaster these past four years. You've had to endure staring at Mr. Flygt and I through a computer (although I'm not certain some of you were actually on the other side of the computer). You've braved bell covers and playing masks that were not washed as much as they should have been. You missed Through it all, you've stuck with it and continued to make beautiful music. I am so proud of each and every one of you, and the growth you've made both inside and outside of the band room. For most of you, your first year in band was my first year at Lane. You've made such a huge impact on my life and my time here. Thank you for everything you've contributed to the band program and good luck with your future endeavors! Go, Lane, Go!

-Mr .Veren

Senior Memories & Shout-Outs

Favorite Band Memory:

  • My favorite memory was the 2021 Homecoming because were finally able to perform in front of the school after 2 years of not being able to.

-Mayra Aguilar, Drumline, Varsity Band

  • Homecoming had to be one of the best memories. I think so because we had started preparing for homecoming sophomore year and never got to perform and it was pretty fun actually getting to experience performing at homecoming senior year.

-Nehemiah Sutton, Drumline, Varsity Band

  • Flygt doing karaoke and singing I think Hollaback Girl but I'm not completely sure. Or maybe Mr Veren getting locked in a concert room and Mr. Flygt having to save him.

-Shelia Cronin, Alto Sax, Varsity Band

  • Mr. Veren playing "Bad to the bone" everytime Mr. Flygt finished a sentence.

-Alexander Coronel, Bass Trombone, Symphonic Band

  • Playing tuba Christmas tunes 2 months before and after Christmas

-Juan Muñoz, Tuba, Symphonic Band

  • Little kids dancing to our music

-Cameron Shaw, Trumpet, Varsity Band

Favorite Band Quote:

  • "Beef hot link"

-Alanis Garcia, Flute, Varsity Band

  • “We have a concert tomorrow if anyone didn’t know”- said multiple times through the year

-Tiara Tribitt, Drumline, Varsity Band

  • "And this kid farted in the elevator. Thank god for masks.” -Mr. Veren

-Dania Santana, Flute, Varsity Band

  • “Emotional support brick” -Mr. Flygt

-Alec Apel, Tenor Sax, Symphonic Band

Advice for current/future Lane band members:

  • Keep trying to learn more about your instrument and don't slack off

-Juan Diego Rojas, Trumpet, Varsity Band

  • My advice is to actually practice at home, practicing helps a lot and can really help you grow as a musician.

-Nehemiah Sutton, Drumline, Varsity Band

  • Have fun, make the most of it and get to know the people around you and you won't regret it

-Victor Carrasco, Trumpet, Varsity Band

  • Find songs that you like playing that you know and practice those so that you can get better at playing and also enjoy it so it doesn’t become a drag but more of a relaxation or release from the rest of the stress in your life.

-Dania Santana, Flute, Varsity Band

  • Practice your music for the love of God.

-Juan Muñoz, Tuba, Symphonic Band
